Snowbowl Skiing: A Complete Guide for Visitors

April 15, 2026 · Relax Inn Team

Arizona Snowbowl is 12 miles north of downtown Flagstaff, up Highway 180. It's one of the southernmost ski resorts in the US, with over 2,300 vertical feet and reliable snow from November to April.

The basics

  • Address: 9300 N Snowbowl Rd, Flagstaff AZ
  • Drive from Relax Inn: ~25 minutes (further when it snows)
  • Vertical: 2,300 feet
  • Trails: 55 across all difficulty levels
  • Lifts: 8

Lift tickets

Buy ahead online at snowbowl.ski. Walk-up rates are $30-50 more expensive. Tickets sell out on Saturday mornings — book 48 hours ahead.

Rentals

Rent gear at the base lodge or in town. Rent in town if it's a busy day — the base rental shop has 30-minute waits on Saturdays.

Parking

The base parking lots fill by 9 AM on weekends. After that, you park at the bottom of Snowbowl Road and they shuttle you up. Add 30 minutes.

Better option: drive up Friday night and park before lifts open Saturday.

What to bring

The mountain is at 11,500 feet at the top. Things you'll regret not bringing:

  • Sunglasses or goggles (the sun is brutal at altitude)
  • Sunscreen (yes, in winter)
  • Lip balm
  • Layers — it can be 60°F at the base and 25°F at the top
  • Cash for parking ($10-20)

Off-snow stuff

Even if you don't ski, the Scenic Skyride runs in summer (June-September) and takes you to 11,500 feet on a chairlift. The views stretch all the way to the Grand Canyon on a clear day.

After-ski

The base lodge has a bar and food. For something better, drive back to Flagstaff — Beaver Street Brewery downtown is the classic après-ski spot.
